The laptop is fine, however, having Windows 8 bundled with it is a real con. Windows 8 is a mess - very difficult to use. Installed third party software to get back to the Win 7 interface.

NEED A MEANINGFUL / HELPFUL QUICK START GUIDE!!! The one furnished was next to useless. I had a large number of negative inputs about Windows 8 prior to purchasing the Toshiba laptop. Having survived Windows 3.0, 95, 98, 2000, NT, XP, Vista I was very concerned about Windows 8 from all inputs, including two independent computer shops.
With the help of a 30 minute training session at Staples and several YouTube tutorials on line on my old Vista laptop, I have found Windows 8 to be very easy to use once the fundamentals (which should have been in a quick start guide) were understood. I especially like the ease of file management & navigation to various apps once the "missing" quick start fundamentals were understood.

My laptop was set up by a sales representative who was very helpful. He explained a lot to me and helped me get started. Once he had it set up it was easy to work with and when I had a question I just called the store and they explained it to me. It is a good computer and has a lot of good features that my old computer did not have. I am still learning new things about this computer but have not had a problem discovering them. I have a lot more to learn but know that if I have any problems I can just call and get my answers.

I mostly use this computer for social networking, games, streaming music and video and creating documents. The computer is easy to use, but it takes a short time to learn and understand Windows 8. But once you do you will love it. The computer is very large. For use around the house it's great! It has been hard to find a case to put it in because it's so big. That may make it hard to travel with. But again, over all it's great. It does everything I want it to do smoothly and quickly.

I purchased this computer about a month and a half ago because I was tired of using my school's computers, which have to go through months of red tape to get licensed for new updates for our game design software. At just a hair over $300 and packing enough ram and processor power to meet the requirements for my needs, I can say this was an answered prayer.

I can smoothly run Chrome, Word, Visual Studio 2010, the Unity Game Development Engine, the entire library of the Adobe Creative Suite (I use CS 5.5), and the Unreal Development Kit, sometimes simultaneously, with minimal load times. My home PC is a dual-display using black-friday 32" tv's, so the 17" screen was a nice consolation for the lack of the usualy workspace I enjoy. Works well with my Intuos5 drawing tablet, too.

The catch? Bloatware. Tons of it. Toshiba will pre-install an avalanche of useless software on the computer, and if you want this computer to run like something 3x as good as it costs, you should get rid of it. If you need help figuring out what you can uninstall and what you should keep, don't guess, just take it to someone you trust with computers, or even Staples Easytechs.

Lastly, I read a lot of complaints about Windows 8, and I don't want new people to be discouraged about buying PC's with it. It's not that new or scary if you stick with the desktop mode. Ask a tech or check online to find out how to organize the start screen the way you like it. Once I configured the way I wanted it, I found it to be a gem of an OS.

I spend a lot of time on the internet with this system. Speed is one of it's major asset. Unfortunately, I spent a lot of time troubleshoot. Some of the plugins are not responding to the to load on the sites. I don't if this is IE 10 or this stupid OS system.

I like the bigger keypad numerals and letters than on my HP dv6-2057 15.6" computer. I like the smoothness of ease which the mouse touchpad on the computer operates compared to my HP dv6-2057 computer. I also like the bigger screen compared to my HP dv6-2057 computer.
