Comments about WD® My Cloud 3TB USB 3.0 Personal Cloud NAS Server (White):

There is nothing wrong this this drive but I returned it. For me, I am not looking to connection to the cloud to access the disk in my home setting. It seems a little absurd. I am just looking for a a standard NAS, plug it in, create a share and your working.

Comments about WD® My Cloud 3TB USB 3.0 Personal Cloud NAS Server (White):

The WD My Cloud did not work with my Internet connection. I suspect the product was not at fault but it would have taken about 30 hours to down load and backup the files I needed. I am going to bring it back and get a dedicated continuous back up.

Comments about WD® My Cloud 3TB USB 3.0 Personal Cloud NAS Server (White):

So far so good.. fairly easy to setup although had a few problems which tech support was able to fix. have not used the actual cloud remote access.
Only have installed smartware on 3 laptops, 1 tower connected to my home router -so far seems to be backing up all wirelessly through the router.

Money Down the Tubes

By Prometheus

from Los Altos, CA

Comments about WD® My Cloud 3TB USB 3.0 Personal Cloud NAS Server (White):

I previously owned two versions of Seagate's NAS. Those disk drives lasted less than a year before failed. I mean - seizing up and stopping. So i figured it was worth a try to see how the competition fared. Well, I've had the My Cloud for about 3 weeks and it pretty much sucks, too. Whereas the Seagate product disk drive was unreliable, the WD product software is unreliable. In the short time that I have had the drive, it spontaneously goes off-line anywhere from one to four times a day. And when it's off line, you have to physically present yourself to the product to power it off and then on again to bring it back on line. That pretty much eliminates the possibility of getting any back up completed. Their support team was polite and ineffective. The message boards are filled with frustrated consumers merely venting of their shared misery. I guess I'll have to save up for a RAID and be done with these poorly engineered products.
