About Me Casual User
Comments about Western Digital Hard Drives; My Book Live, Personal Cloud Storage, 2TB:
I use this as a fail-safe backup for two Macs that have Time Machine and external storage. It also works as a source for my iPad, iPod and iPhone to get access to items I don't want to put on them directly. Works great so far, though installation was a bit tricky. I recommend this for any person who is looking for a second backup source to sensitive and hard (if not impossible) to replace items. I have found that downloading from it is fast and uncomplicated, which is essential when I'm in another room and don't want to bother with my iMac.
Got it worked, Enjoying it now.

About Me Power user
I did have some minor issues setting up this product. At first it seemed easy but the majority of the network I was trying to set it up on was XP and the software wouldn't even run on xp. Luckily they had a Windows 7 pc I was able to use as well.Once I got it going, and all devices were plugged in they could all access the network. However, as soon as I left the next day only one could get online at a time. The errors seemed to be XP only, and the company, thankfully, did help me out through their support. Support was kind and easy to understand, but it was frustrating every 2 minutes being put on hold while they "researched". I'm sure they have a lot of product but you would think they would have quicker access to the manuals and common issues. As a Power user/pc Tech it was easy for me to get it setup the way I think it should have worked, but it didn't work that way. That's why I didn't give it 5 stars. It does deserve it because for a home use one login is probably enough, and lets face it, the business I was helping is really behind the times with so many XP computers.

drive comes with no instructions. Must search web sites to find a 140 +/- page "pdf" file for a user manual, which amounts to reading a book while learning to do brain surgery, Paper instructions probably save pennies per unit, that next year will sell for half of current prices, and at half price will still be profitable.

With this unit it came with a 3 foot network cable. It is so nice and easy to share files and make changes for everyone to see.

cannot get it configed, supplied setup is of no help. WD support is also no help. WD techs will not communicate verberly, they don't flow up on the problem, all they want is to add a fee to help. It seem to be JUNK

About Me Tech Savvy
I purchased two of these last summer and love them. I recently puchased two more as gifts for family members. I love digital photograpy and ALL of my photos can be accessed from my cell phone from anywhere in seconds. I also use mine for backing up my business every day. I use the automatic back up for 3 desk tops and 1 laptop. The one that I purchased for my brother has not been as much of a joy for him as his internet service is awful (.19 when he should have 3.0), but it still functions great for backing up his laptop.
This is an excellent device

About Me Some Technical Knowledge
I am using this as my own personal cloud, because I can access it from any device, my pc's, my iPad's or my iPhone. It is fast and easy to use. Any cons that I had were easily overcome, and they were just mentioned for truthfulness, and size, it is robust, and that is a good thing. I would recommend this product to anyone, WD makes excellent products at reasonable prices. As far as setup goes, just follow the directions, and you will not go wrong. My device just sits here now, and I can access it from anywhere, literally, anywhere in the world, so it is my own personal cloud, and it can be yours too, not gigabytes, but terrabytes.
Great external drive.
