A veteran, Yolanda began her multimedia career as a broadcast journalist in the Navy; but the military was not her entry into the workforce. Motivated by her desire to be a fashionista, she eagerly accepted a job offer on her sixteenth birthday from the local YMCA. This early job experience allowed Yolanda to buy designer jeans every payday; and it also introduced her to different management styles, office politics, HR protocols, and the importance of playing well with others in the workplace.
In the years that followed, Yolanda earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism, joined the Navy, and worked in the sales, marketing and publishing industries. Her employment history includes supervisory and managerial roles. Yolanda honed her publishing skills as an editor for one of the largest textbook publishers in the country. And her managerial skills were strengthened and tested daily when she was responsible for hiring, training, and managing a team of 30 real estate agents, office support staff, and temp employees for an apartment rental agency.
