Stress on the job is nothing new. What causes stress for one worker may not affect another. But for many people, finances can really impact us during and outside of the workday. According to the Stress in America survey, 72 percent of Americans reported feeling stressed about money at least some of the time during the past month. Money-related stress affects relationships, too: Almost one third of adults with partners report that money is a major source of conflict in their relationship. Financial stress can lead to a higher absentee rate, loss of productivity, high turnover rates, and medical issues. So what’s a company to do? There are ways employers can help improve employees’ financial literacy and stability without offering a bunch of raises and bonuses.
