Do I need a cleaning kit for my scanner?
Quill recommends it — dust, fingerprints, and debris can affect scan quality over time. A good cleaning kit with lint-free cloths, alcohol-based cleaners, roller wipes, and swabs for tight spaces will keep your printer in tip-top shape. Regular upkeep helps prevent streaks, jams, and image issues—especially if you're scanning documents often.
What type of cables or power adapters work with my scanner?
Most scanners use USB-A or USB-C connections, and some support AC adapters or wireless connections. If you’re replacing a lost cable or charger, check the scanner’s brand and model—using the wrong accessories can cause damage or limit performance.
What are cleaning sheets and do I need them?
Cleaning sheets help maintain the inside of sheet-fed and portable scanners. These scanners pull paper through rollers, which can collect dust and debris with frequent use, causing jams, smudges, or blurry scans.
Cleaning sheets are usually:
- Pre-moistened with a gentle, alcohol-free solution
- Or dry and used with a compatible cleaner
Simply run them through the scanner like a regular sheet of paper. As they pass through, they clean the rollers and sensors to prevent build-up, feeding issues, and image distortion.
