HP 63 cartridges come in two color options: black and tricolor. Black ink, such as the HP 63XL ink, is used to create bold black-and-white documents but can also be used for grayscale printing. This creates detailed images with shades of gray. Tricolor is a single cartridge with cyan, magenta, and yellow color ink in one. There are three sizes available for HP inkjet printer cartridges. These sizes affect the page yield, or how many pages can be printed before ink runs out or print look faded. Choose a larger HP 63 ink cartridge when you need to do plenty of printing and a smaller size if the printer won’t get much use. Average page yields based on size are:
- HP 63 standard black: up to 190 pages
- HP 63 standard color: up to 165 pages
- HP 63XL black ink: up to 480 pages
- HP 63XL color ink: up to 330 pages
- HP 63 economy black: up to 170 pages
- HP 63 economy color: up to 145 pages
Printer compatibility with HP 63 cartridges
HP 63 black and HP 63 tricolor ink cartridges are compatible with more printers than the OfficeJet 4655. They work in several other printers in the OfficeJet series, including model numbers 3830 and 5255. They also fit in HP DeskJet series, including 3634 and 1112.
