I bought most of this collection in 2005 or so (all but the bookcase, which I'm about to buy after all these years, believe it or not) for a full-time home office. It's very very heavy, very thick particle board, sleek-looking, sturdy and professional looking.

When I bought this I was living in an apartment in NJ. It survived a move (and reassembly) to a rented house in CT a year later, and then a move all the way to my first house in Atlanta 2 years after that.

Even after nearly seven years, it's in great shape - if you buy this, get used to it, it's going to last you a looonnng time. The front edge of the desk, which I lean against, rest against, bump against, etc. for 12 hours a day, every day, is starting to get just a little "pulpy", where it's starting to degrade. That's a very long lifespan for something I expected to be throwaway furniture. The lateral file is a little saggy and doesn't quite line up when I push the drawers in, but I've also had it heavily loaded for (again) 7 years. The hutch stays put just fine with a couple of brackets screwed into the back for stability.

It's very heavy, especially in the l-shaped configuration, so do yourself a favor and put furniture sliders under the legs before you load it up with books, papers, files, printers and computer monitors. Over the years I've drilled large holes in the surface and the vertical backboard in various places to allow me to run cables and such - it takes a serious drill with a serious bit to take out a 3" hole in this very serious wood.

I LOVE this desk. It has been used every day for two and a half years. When I ordered the desk, the hutch was free (a special offer for the holidays). I special ordered glass for the top. I would recommend to anyone to cover the top in glass as the surface will not look pretty after a while. My desk still looks new. I also did not put the cardboard backing on the hutch so I can watch TV or visit with people in my den. So, you can have an open design desk. I love this desk and highly recommend it. I put it together by myself and I'm was 55 when I did it by myself but needed hubby's help to put the components together.

Instructions for attaching the hinged door were non-existent, and diagram was poor. I had to call for assembly help twice before I finally got the door hun correctly. A few words in the assembly instructions would have solved the problem. After a lot of frustration, it is a great desk.

After looking around a lot, finally bought this. This is a pretty sturdy table and not too bulky. It has a simple modern design and perfect for a small sized room/office. The drawers are good quality.

The best part is it can be assembled either ways, CPU cabinet/keyboard on left or right. THe table top (realy thick) can support a whooping 300lb ! Not like the cheaper tables which crack at 45lbs.

Really love the color. It's perfect for my study room.
