How to print from your phone or tablet

Have you wondered how to print from your phone or how to connect your phone to the printer?  Good news, it’s pretty easy  to print documents and photos from your iPhone, Android or tablet. Learn how to print from your phone using a wireless printer or  USB cord. Ready to start printing? How to Print from iPhone & iPad

Wireless Printing

1. Confirm that your printer supports AirPrint. Not sure? Check this list of printers.
2. Make sure the printer and your iPhone or iPad are connected to the same wireless network.
3. Go to the “Photos” app on your phone and click on the photo you would like to print. Click on the “Share” button on the left-hand side (the square icon with an arrow pointing up). You’ll now notice a check mark on that photo. If you would like to print additional photos, just swipe left or right to select the photos you want.
   

   

   
4. To print a document, go to the document or the website you would like to print from and click on the “Share” button at the bottom of the screen (the square icon with an arrow pointing up).
   

   

5. Once you’ve selected the photo or document you want to print and clicked “Share,” you’ll see a menu of options. Using the second row of grey icons, swipe to the right until you see the “Print” option.
   

   

6. Tap “Printer” to choose your AirPrint enabled printer.
   

   

7. Customize your printing preferences (number of copies and specific pages.)
   

   

8. To print double-sided or choose  black and white vs. color, select “Options.”
9. Tap “Print” in the upper right-hand corner and you’re done!
   

   

Printing from your iPad or iPhone with a USB cable

Requirements

• You’ll need an OTG (on-the-go) USB cord.
• Make sure your iPhone or iPad supports USB OTG (not all phones do).
• You’ll also need a USB cable to attach to the printer.
• Make sure the printer hardware is ready.

Make the Connection

1. Turn on the printer.
2. Connect one end of the USB cable to the printer and the other end to the USB OTG. Then connect the USB OTG to your iPhone or iPad.
3. A plugin should pop-up on your iPhone or iPad.
4. Tap “OK” to activate it for printing. Then it should be ready for printing.
5. Follow printing “Wireless Printing” steps 3-9 to print.

How to Print from Android Phone & Tablet

The steps for printing may vary slightly depending on the type of Android phone or table you are printing from. (Look at your phone manufacture’s website for your model of phone.)

Wireless Printing

1. Set up a printer on your phone. Go to “Settings.” Type in “Printing” in the search bar.
   

   

   
2. You will see a list of printers. If you see your printer name and model listed on your phone, skip to the last step. If you do not see your printer listed, click on “Cloud Print” > “More” > “Add Printer.”
   

   

3. Add printer in Cloud Print:
   • if your phone can’t find a printer automatically, you will need to type in the printer name and IP address (for certain phones).
     

     

   • If your phone is still having trouble finding a printer, many large brands, like HP, offer free print services plugins. Go to Google Play Store install to search and install the plugin specific to your printer brand.
     

     

4. Once the printer has been added, you can print from your device.
   

   

5. Navigate to the photo or document you would like to print. If it is a document, then select “More” > “Share” > “Print.”  If it it is a photo, select “More” > “Print” and you’re done!
   

Printing from your Android phone or tablet with a USB Cable

Check the Requirements

• You’ll need an on-the-go (OTG) USB cord.
• Make sure the printer hardware is ready.
• You’ll need a USB cord to attach to the printer.
• Make sure your Android supports USB OTG (not all phones do).

Make the Connection
