How Paper Mate Flair felt tip pens work
All felt tip pens have a similar design with a few rare exceptions, such as the Paper Mate Liquid Flair® pen. Felt tip pens use some type of pressed material, like felt or plastic, as the tip. It’s spongy and porous so it absorbs ink well. Inside the pen is a polyester reservoir that holds the ink. The nib absorbs the ink from the reservoir, and it then spreads across the paper with little pressure as the user writes or draws. Both the Paper Mate black Flair medium felt tip pen and Paper Mate ultra-fine Flair pen use this design.
Features of Paper Mate Flair felt tip marker pens
The medium point Paper Mate Flair tip pen has a nib size of 0.7mm. It uses a pressed felt tip that is flexible. It’s possible to write thin lines with the very tip and thicker lines when holding the pen at a slight angle. Use them for writing or coloring small areas. The ultra-fine point is 0.4mm for very thin lines. It’s made of porous plastic and housed in metal to protect the fragile point from damage. The ultra-fine creates precise lines for writing letters or signing documents. Both have a thin, straight body similar to ballpoint stick pens that fit comfortably in the hand.
Features of Paper Mate Liquid Flair pens
The Liquid Flair has one major difference from the regular Paper Mate Flair pen because it has an ink reservoir. Instead of using a polyester core that absorbs the ink, the Liquid Flair lets the ink move freely inside the reservoir. There are several benefits to this design:
- Ability to see how much ink is left in the pen
- Fast-moving ink gets to the felt tip quickly
- More ink on the page means bolder lines
- Ink flows like gel pens but with faster drying times
