Bic mechanical pencils come in various choices

Opt for mechanical pencils with plastic or metal barrels. Metal bodies last for a long time because they are sturdy and weigh more than their plastic counterparts; this explains why some refillable options are metallic. Plastic bodies are light and easy to use for extended periods and they come in opaque and transparent versions. Choose transparent barrels if you like to track the amount of lead remaining.

Consider Bic pencils with rubber grips for easy control and comfortable use. They have specialized erasers that neatly wipe out stray marks and errors for clean writing or drawing surfaces. Some models also feature caps to keep the erasers clean.

Various lead specifications for Bic pencils

Lead comes in multiple thicknesses including 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, and 0.9 millimeters. The thick sizes create bold lines so they are more favorable for writing. Thick lead is strong and it can withstand heavy writing pressure. On the other hand, the thinner 0.3-millimeter lead is ideal for drawing or shading. Engineers can also use these pencils when sketching detailed diagrams.

Lead also comes in three grades suitable for various needs.

  • 1: This is the softest grade and it offers the best visibility; use it to draw thick lines or write bold text
  • 2: This is denser than grade one and its lines are less bold but reasonably visible; it's fitting for everyday writing
  • 3: This is fainter than the first two grades; use it for dull lines or shading
  • 4: This is the densest lead and it draws the faintest lines; it's suitable for shading and mostly used by professional artists, hobbyists, and some engineers

Bic lead pencils designed for convenient use

Keep writing with Bic pencils that hold more than one full-length lead. Their self-feeding feature lets users handle large volumes of work uninterrupted. The "click to advance" capability on some options saves time while ensuring the flow of ideas goes on. Opt for versions with retractable lead to prevent breaking when storing or carrying.

Choose a single piece or buy in packs according to your needs. Some packs include assorted colors for differentiation. Other pencil brands offered by Quill include Paper Mate® mechanical pencils and Pilot mechanical pencils.
