(4 Products)What Types of Door Stops Are There?
There are two primary options for door stops: rubber and kick down.
Rubber Door Stops
Rubber door stops are shaped like a wedge and are durable and suited for frequent use. Rubber door holders are not attached to the actual door. They can be placed or removed at your convenience. Rubber door holds tend to come in neutral colors like gray and brown.
Kick Down Door Stops
This tool is available with a triangular or square base that attaches to the door. Kick-down door holds stay mounted upright until you choose to position them to hold the door open. This model is lightweight but efficient and comes in a satin chrome finish.
Why Are Door Stops Important?
Door stoppers allow you to prop the door open and walk away. They are also good for keeping a door closed or cracked. Door stoppers conveniently prevent a door from slamming into a wall and making a hole with the doorknob. Nobody wants to have to re-plaster a wall, so you could say that this is a preventative measure that can save you money. Without proper door stoppers, users may resort back to wedging brooms or other objects under the door to hold it open, which can be a safety hazard, especially in a school classroom.
What Are Some Features of Door Stops?
Door stops are typically small in size and lightweight. They can fit in the palm of your hand easily. Rubber models are impact-resistant, and the material is non-slip and won’t leave any scratches on the floor. The brown, black, or gray color of the rubber model lends a desirable neutral look that goes well in most professional settings like hospitals, offices, or schools.
Kick-down door stops are a good option for anyone who does not want to constantly place and remove their doorstop, since they can be installed onto the door. Once installed, users can use their feet to position it when needed. These models are also non-slip and have either a white or black rubber bottom that touches the floor. Their chrome finish lends a nice, clean, professional look. Kick-down door stoppers are typically made out of cast brass and are less than 10 inches long and three inches wide.
Either of these two models function well on both smooth surfaces or carpeted floors.
