Paper towel dispenser types

The different types of hand towel dispensers often depend on the kind of paper towels inside. Hardwound products use rolls that unwind from the outside for simple handling. These are the more common kitchen style types. Center-pull machines also use rolls, but the towels pull out from the center one at a time to save on waste. Folded dispensers use C-fold paper towels, which look like brochures, or multi-fold, which look chevron shaped. Each cloth is separate and users can take as many as necessary.

Hand towel dispenser operation

Containers for paper towels operate in different ways. Some are simple and require the user to do most of the work, while others do everything for users. Types of dispenser operations include:

  • Automated - Releases paper towels with a wave of the hand for germ-free operation
  • Manual - Requires using a button or pulling out the towels by hand and doesn't need electricity or batteries
  • Auto-cut - Tears the paper at certain intervals and creates perfectly straight cuts

Paper towel dispenser sizes

Choosing the correct size of machine for office, business, or home bathrooms depends on how many people use it and how often someone wants to change it. Dispensers for hardwound paper towels can hold 1 to 20 rolls at the same time. Those that hold multiple rolls often have a button that drops down a new roll when one empties. A folded paper towel dispenser can hold between 1000 and 4000 stacked sheets, ideal for busy spaces, along with manual dispensers for facial tissue.

Paper towel holders

Paper towel holders are different from dispensers in that they are not machines and simply keep paper towel rolls in place. Most people use these in kitchens, but they can also be placed in small office restrooms. There are a few types to choose from. Standing holders hold the towel rolls vertically. Under-cabinet and wall holders attach to walls or cabinets to save counter space.
