(951 items found)
Sharpie® paint markers are pens with paint inside instead of ink. They allow users to create permanent detailed art without the need for messy paints and brushes. Choose between Sharpie oil-based paint markers and Sharpie water-based paint markers depending on needs. These paint pens are so much more than art markers, and have many uses in the office as well. Sharpie paint marker features

Sharpie oil-based paint markers and water-based markers have some similar features. Both have a retractable nib that users press onto a hard surface to release the paint. They work on nearly any surface including paper, glass, wood, metal, ceramic, and rubber. Choose from a variety of nib sizes from extra fine to extra bold. Both have many colors to choose from although the water-based pens have the most colors. Both are permanent markers that won’t wipe or wash away easily. Purchase each pen separately, or opt for a Sharpie paint markers set with multiple colors in one package.

Differences between oil-based and water-based paint

Oil and water are the different solvents used in paint markers and are the ingredients that evaporate during the drying process. These solvents change how the pens work in a few ways.

Water-based:

  • Acid-free so the paint won’t damage surfaces
  • Resists fading over time - UV resistant for use outdoors
  • Dries quickly and flexible
  • Removable from glass without scratching
  • Appears on light and dark surfaces

Oil-based:

  • Dries slower for a smooth finish and bright sheen
  • Permanent on all surfaces, including glass
  • Water, temperature, and humidity resistant
  • Dries hard to prevent wear and tear
  • Works on moist surfaces

Office uses for Sharpie oil-based paint markers and water-based markers

When choosing markers, versatility is important. Sharpie markers cover a lot of uses including labeling shelves, drawers, or filing cabinets. You can also use them for color coding objects. For example, place a red dot on a device and then another red dot on the corresponding charger to make it easy to find when needed. Use water-based Sharpie poster paint markers to create a scheduling board by placing a calendar inside a frame and writing on the glass. Since water-based paint removes easily from glass, you can reuse the calendar many times. It’s also easy to decorate the office by creating signs or wall art. Consider painting mugs for unique employee gifts during the holidays.
