Curved LED monitors
A curved LED computer monitor reduces the perceived distortion experienced working with a flat screen monitor because the monitor edge is closer to the eye. Full High Definition (HD) curved computer monitors have a pixel count of 1920 x 1080, and an aspect ratio of 16:9 that’s compatible with HD movies. The wide screen, together with the greater definition provided by HD, is an advantage because it’s possible to view more information at one time.
Ultra-wide curved LED computer monitor
Curved, ultra-wide monitors have an aspect ratio of 21:9, providing an extremely wide viewing angle. They’re a good alternative to multiple monitors because they offer plenty of screen space while taking up less physical desk space. Manufacturers such as LG® have capitalized on this by providing split screen software that divides the workspace into separate windows. Some ultra-wide monitors have Wide Quad High Definition screens (WQHD) with 3440 x 1440 pixels, offering increased definition. This type is popular as a curved gaming monitor because of its crisper detail and wide field of view.
Effect of curvature on viewing distance
When the human eye focuses, everything at the same distance is in focus. A curved monitor exploits this phenomenon by keeping the entire screen approximately the same distance from the eye, helping increase working comfort. While optimal curvature depends on several factors, the closer the eye is to the screen the more the screen should curve. Gamers prefer sharply curved screens with a small radius of curvature because this provides an immersive experience. Office workers and photo editors like using a curved desktop monitor with a large radius of curvature that doesn’t wrap around to the same degree. Used with monitor mounts and cables that raise the monitor to eye level, a wide screen monitor provides a comfortable viewing angle.
Curved LED monitor size and definition
Curved Monitors typically vary from 24 up to 38 inches, with an aspect ratio of 16:9 for wide screen monitors and 21:9 for ultra-wide screen monitors. Because of the way screen size is measured, a 27-inch HD monitor is narrower and taller than a wider 27-inch ultra-wide screen monitor.
