Instead of ink cartridges, each printer has four internal ink tanks that are refillable from small ink bottles, each holding 70 milliliters of dye-based color ink or 135 milliliters of black pigment ink. While having the same printing capability of other Pixma printers, MegaTank printers hold enough ink for up to 30 times more prints, with typical page yields being 6,000 monochrome pages and 7,000 full-color pages.
